A Living Will is an advance directive that notifies one's physician(s) that under certain circumstances: terminal illness and/or end-stage condition and/or permanent vegetative state, that one does not to be kept artificially alive by heroic measures or by life sustaining machines. The idea is to allow people the right to choose to die with dignity and alleviate the burden from one's family of having to make this heart-wrenching decision.
